Materials

We publish the fibre, not just the thread count

Thread count tells you how dense a sheet is. It tells you nothing about how the fibre was grown, how long it is, or whether the mill treats its workers well. Here is what we actually use.

Long-staple cotton

Combed, long fibre

Long-staple cotton has longer fibres, which means fewer pills and a softer hand that survives repeated laundering. Most cheap cotton uses short fibre, which feels fine once and then does not.

European flax linen

Washed, breathable

Flax grown in Normandy and woven in Portugal. Linen is one of the few natural fibres that manages heat in both directions — it pulls moisture away when you are warm and insulates when you are not.

Merino wool

19.5 micron, RWS certified

Finer than ordinary wool, and therefore not itchy against skin. Merino is also naturally odour-resistant, which is why a wool throw stays fresh far longer between washes than a synthetic one.

Responsible sourcing

OEKO-TEX Standard 100

Every fibre we use is tested for harmful substances and certified to OEKO-TEX Standard 100. Our wool is additionally RWS certified, which traces the farm it came from.

I have bought cheap cotton sheets for years and they always went rough and shapeless within a month. Six months in, these are still soft and the fitted sheet has not budged once. The Midnight colourway is a deep navy that photographs far better than it sounds.
